IP the future? Maybe? But alternatives like HDSdi may be the answer for you?
Ip technology has been the flavour of the month for new CCTV installations for a while. However, existing sites have been unable to fully embrace the technology as the investment requires a complete new system to gain the benefits of the improved storage of images, high definition cameras and supporting technology integration.High Definition images are extremely valuable when “after the event” reviewing requires detailed evidence from the site recordings and would be useful for most sites, particularly shopping centres.
Hybrid equipment has allowed a meeting of the new and traditional technologies, but has limited the use of the HD and Megapixel cameras and involves the use of expensive converters.
A little known fact was that Television Studios had been recording high definition footage over traditional coaxial cables for years, even though they only transmitted lower quality images to the home viewer. This technology has been used to launch a new way of recording HD images.
HDSDi, is a method of transmitting HD images over traditional co axial cable and recording the images, all without the need for converters. The system also allows for a combination of images, both HD and traditional, to allow a current system to be upgraded gradually.
